"It was like riding in a dream. Thousands of people yelling my name. Totally different from the Giro. A tremendous kick. But the light went off at the last col. At the previous ascent, I had done everything to catch and pass Barredo.

Why these early attacks instead of waiting for the last climb? I'll have time enough later for that. Here, I was allowed to attack. And I did not want to miss this chance."
